Intercepting Shipments
March 2007
Stations, the following is a news announcement. Suggested lead in 3, 2, 1...
(INTRO)
Millions of packages are sent in the U.S., with the world's largest package delivery company averaging 15.6 million daily. A new interception service allows them to treat each package as if it's their only one by allowing shippers to easily intercept and reroute packages before they're delivered, helping them avoid costly mistakes that could impact customer service.
UPS's Ralph Caldwell says it's the industry's only Web-enabled package interception service.
(CALDWELL)
SHIPPERS CAN ACCESS THE SERVICE 24/7. WE CAN EVEN SEND A DRIVER A MESSAGE TO INTERCEPT A PACKAGE RIGHT UP TO THE MOMENT IT'S DELIVERED. SHIPPERS CAN HAVE THE PACKAGE RETURNED TO THEM, REDIRECTED TO ANOTHER ADDRESS, OR HELD FOR PICKUP OR DELIVERY ON A FUTURE DATE. IT'S LIKE AN INSURANCE POLICY FOR SHIPPERS - FOR A BUSINESS THAT ACCIDENTALLY FILLS FIFTY DOLLAR ORDERS WITH TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR ITEMS OR FORGETS THE MOST IMPORTANT DOCUMENT IN A CONTRACT.
(CLOSE)
The service is available in the United States and Puerto Rico. Visit ups.com/deliveryintercept to learn more.
