(INTRO)

Video games are among the most popular forms of entertainment today. To inform parents about video game ratings as well as promote the commitment of retailers to sell mature-rated video games to customers over 17, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has joined with Best Buy and GameStop to launch a television PSA campaign.

Senator Hillary Clinton participated in the launch.

(CLINTON)

AS WE ENTER THE HOLIDAY SHOPPING SEASON, IT'S IMPORTANT THAT PARENTS HAVE THE INFORMATION THEY NEED TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES FOR THEIR CHILDREN. WE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO RAISE AWARENESS OF VIDEO GAME RATINGS AND TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE ENFORCED.

ESRB president Patricia Vance describes the ratings system.

(VANCE)

RATINGS CAN BE FOUND ON VIRTUALLY EVERY GAME PACKAGE. THE RATINGS SUGGEST AGE APPROPRIATENESS AND PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT CONTENT. PARENTS SHOULD USE BOTH PARTS OF THE RATINGS TO HELP THEM DECIDE WHICH GAMES ARE OK FOR THEIR KIDS TO PLAY.
